Chinaisanancientcountrywitharichculturallegacy.ThebeautyofChina’snaturalareasandthediversityofitsculturallandscapeshasgainedmuchattentionfromallovertheworld.Theharmoniousmulti-nationaldevelopmentinthisregionoftheworldprovidesagoodbackgroundforstudyingtherelationshipsbetweencultureandlandscape.Overthepastthreedecades,Chinahasexperiencedadramaticchangeineconomicaldevelopmentwhichhasresultedinacceleratingratesoflandscapechangeandtheinevitableconflictsbetweenmanandenvironment.Chinanowfacesthechallengeofdevelopinglandscapepracticesthatwillprovideabasisforeconomicgrowthaswellasenvironmentalsecurity.
